IG: Homegrown snacks!! 😍 These make me think of Skittles and/or Christmas ornaments 🤷🏻‍♀️. Either way, they make me sooooo happy. My medium to larger tomatoes did NOT do well this year slash have been eaten by squirrels (I don’t think I’ll get one beefsteak ☹️) so these little cherry gems are extra special 👌🏼 What wins are you celebrating today??!

IG: Couch cuddles on a Wednesday night with my favourite 7-year old 😻 This guy isn’t a natural cuddler per se, but he likes to surprise me here and there with a snug, which makes it all the more special. After being an only child (CAT) for the last 7 years, how do you think he’s gonna react to a puppy friend in the coming months?? 😏🤫😁

IG: 🐸🐸🐸I came across this gorgeous little tree frog nestled in the zucchini leaves while doing monthly maintenance on my favourite organic edible garden today. What a beaut! Keep up the great work (bug munching🦗🐛) bud! And feel free to visit my garden ANY time for dinner. P.s. I’ve always loved frogs and toads.

IG: MEDUSA! 🐍🌻 In June I had this big, strong, sunflower plant growing that wasn’t far away from blooming and I was so excited for it. Along came Larry, the groundhog, in his most prolific attack and ate the head plus half the stem completely off it (along with pretty much clearing the rest of my garden) I was pissed, but I decided to leave it since the stem was less destroyed than others he got to which had clearly been killed. Throughout July, it pulled a Medusa and grew 6 smaller heads from the place he ate the original one head off (so cool), and they’re all just starting to bloom. I guess Larry wanted me to have more sunflowers or something… 🌻🤷🏻‍♀️🌻

IG: Fresh zucchini noodles, carrots and Swiss chard from the garden in my coconut curry bone broth soup with wild caught cod Rich, mildly spicy and insanely satisfying! Things have been kinda crazy the past few weeks, back and forth from Hamilton to Toronto lots + taking care of two properties and I’ve been eating a lot more crappy food and less veggies than usual. None of us are perfect all of the time and it’s OK, but I definitely feel it in my energy levels 😴 and I needed this comforting, nourishing meal today. This soup is comprised of a base of nutrient-dense homemade bone broth and coconut cream and then loaded with anti-inflammatory spices, fresh veggies and some wild caught protein (fish). The coconut cream makes it high fat 😍, so it’s highly satisfying, filling, fueling and, contrary to faulty info from the past, soooo good for your body. Fat isn’t what makes you fat— sugar and refined carbs do. So stop counting calories, fearing fat and eat your fat (especially from coconut, avocado, olive oil and wild / pastured animals) because it’s the cleanest burning source of fuel out there and we need it for so many vital body processes. Plus fat is damn delicious. • Do you still falsely fear fat?

IG: Woweeee 😲 My most recently bloomed zinnia is so fluorescent that it doesn’t look real. I did absolutely nothing to this photo— this is actually what it looks like!! Hot hot hot pink on the outside petals that tapers to a fluorescent purple on the inside. How AMAZING is that? Today I’m grateful for the gifts, like this, that nature freely provides. As we move into the weekend, is there anything specific you’re feeling grateful for?

IG: ✨Our new home already had amazing vibes & energy (one of the many reasons it won us over), but we blessed it with an extensive smudging anyway. Not familiar with smudging? Smudging is a symbolic exercise common to feng shui practice, many native American traditions, and alternative healing practices. It involves burning selected herbs or other materials in a manner that fills the home or other space with the fragrance of the smoke and is thought to cleanse, clear negative energy, bless and heal. We chose to smudge with a wand blended of sage (to bless, heal, clear) sweetgrass (to purify, heal, clear and bring positive energy) and cedar (to bless, protect, ground and balance) with a bonus side of palo santo (aka holy wood— to clear, heal and bring good fortune). ✨ Do you smudge? When is your favourite time to smudge?
