I’m not a mom yet, but I can imagine the feeling is something like watching your kids grow up from babies to beautiful, mature adults 😝 hehe It’s so amazing the difference just a couple weeks can make, and I can’t wait to see the harvests she gets this summer from her gorgeous raised beds! 😁

IG: Today, I thank the universe for my deck railing milkcrate container garden because it is one of the only things that has survived the daily groundhog assaults. 😱 Well, originally it was on the deck steps and everything did get eaten, but I replanted it all and then moved it up to the railing and I think we’re ok… 🤞🏼 This year has been a struggle, folks! Nothing uncaged is safe. I’m talking noooooothing— flowers, kales, zucchini and squash plants, chards, lettuces, arugulas… ALL GROUNDHOG DINNER. And the worst part is that the stupid little guy is so cute. What am I supposed to do, besides hack job cover as much as I can?!? I’ve live trapped and relocated 2 pesky raccoons so far but I have a feeling groundhogs won’t be as easy to catch… 🤔 Pray for my once thriving, now pathetically sad, bare garden lol

IG: I came home to massive destruction in the backyard yesterday 😫 It was as if someone took a lawnmower to my raised bed and my two keyhole gardens. Groundhogs are nature’s lawnmowers, people, and the struggle is damn real. Lettuce, arugula, beets, carrots, baby chard, pak choy, MOWED. • Anyone have groundhog tips? I’m feeling murderous, naturally, but I could obviously never do that hahaha. • Help.

Two days ago I literally Googled “why isn’t my garlic making scapes?” Being a first time garlic grower, I wasn’t sure, but intuitively it felt like things were a little behind. But after researching, it seems that it’s just been a weird year and everything is just behind. Cuz then the next day I came outside and no word of a lie, the scapes had begun. (A lesson in patience?!) And then today I harvested these! Soooooo excited to harvest the actual garlic bulbs in a few weeks. But for now, garlic scape pesto, anyone? 😊

Being a first time garlic grower, I wasn’t sure, but intuitively it felt like things were a little behind.
But after researching, it seems that it’s just been a weird year and everything is just behind.
Cuz then the next day I came outside and no word of a lie, the scapes had begun. (A lesson in patience?!)
And then today I harvested these!
Soooooo excited to harvest the actual garlic bulbs in a few weeks.

IG: Woke up sick today… 🤧 So, bone broth noodle soup, that’s what.🍲 Fortunately I already had some bone broth simmering from Monday night’s whole crockpot chicken, so I tossed in some rice+millet noodles (some? Ok like a whole lot because I am a carb monster when I’m sick), some toasted fresh garlic (those brown bits), fresh diced green onion and an over-easy egg. Inspired by pho+ramen+my style, this ain’t your mama’s chicken soup but it has all the essential healing elements and it’ll sure do. Who got me sick, you ask? 😷 Well, someone who very recently celebrated a big birthday + last name ends in double letters 🙋‍♂️😆
