IG: Not all meals have to be pretty, but colorful is important! 🌈🌈🌈 Eating a rainbow of varying foods is SO important to ensure we are receiving the micronutrients and antioxidants our bodies need to thrive. So do your best to make sure your meals contain a little bit of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and white/tan/beige each day. I don’t usually eat breakfast but on weekends, a late breakfast sometimes goes. Today we’re having local pastured eggs and bacon with turmeric and black pepper, sliced avocado and tomato with sea salt and olive oil, blackberries, a sprinkle of hulled watermelon seeds, homemade kimchi and a dollop of avocado mayo. Do you make an effort to eat the rainbow? Let me know

IG: Dreaming of the warmer months this morning as I realize that it’s about time to begin envisioning and planning my 2020 garden 😍 [truth be told, I am working on the whole “planning” thing, as I’ve never been much of a planner but more of a “fly by the seat of your pants-er”. My work flow? Google it to learn, try it, and hope for the best. Then make tweaks where necessary along the way 🙃]. Last year I spent a LOTTTTTT of my energy in the early growing months getting my seven new 4×8’ rough cut hemlock raised beds built, stained and filled with soil at our new home (shoutout to @theformfirm for the design and build, we get SO many compliments on our beautiful tiered beds)— SWEAT EQUITY (literally?): I transported 2 yards of soil, one wheelbarrow at a time, down a hill and then into the raised beds somehow… it was a doozy 😅. BUT I was then able to grow SO much food for us from May through October! This year I won’t have to do all that prep work and can just give the beds a quick top up, add some compost, and get planting🙌🏼. Hallelujah. I will be more efficient and focused with my seeding and planting, too, and will have WAY less kale, guys 😆. I am also going to give my plant babes more space as I have a tendency to push the limits, wanting to grow all that I possibly can, but this doesn’t always work out. Anyway, to my fellow gardeners out there, or first time aspiring 2020 gardeners (YOU GO!), have you already begun thinking about what you’re going to grow this year too? Let me know photo by @saramonikaphoto 😘
