IG: After that beautiful, super sunny ☀️, hot day on Saturday, my spinach “bolted” (don’t worry, it didn’t run away). This means it is going to seed; spinach doesn’t like heat and when it is too hot, essentially sends up flowers that turn into seeds and stops producing leaves (or if it does, they’re minimal, tough and bitter). I pulled it out, except for a couple that I am letting go to seed (to harvest the seed for next year, of course). Another option is to seed some more spinach and give the new ones a shot, but it will likely just be too hot for spinach from here on out, until fall when another planting of it will flourish. Time to move on to something else–true summer crops
