IG: đŸ„ŹLettuce is an excellent novice grower veg— its seeds can be sewn directly into soil (recommended for first time growers) or it can be very easily grown inside under grow lights if you’re more advanced (as seen here). I say sow directly into soil if you’re a novice gardener because the root system of lettuce is shallow and very fragile and can be easily damaged when transplanting. This is best done by someone who knows what they’re doing 😅 If you’re an inexperienced grower, sow your lettuce seeds outside directly in your container or garden bed and then thin excess seedlings so each seedling is about 3-4” apart. Reminder that plants need space to grow big and healthy, but lettuce is one that can be packed pretty closely relative to others, especially if you’ll be harvesting outer leaves as opposed to harvesting full heads. Pro tip: sow new lettuce seeds every six weeks for a continuous supply of lettuce throughout the season (succession planting); a single lettuce plant will not last you very long! Freshly grown lettuce takes salads to the NEXT LEVEL! Will you be growing lettuce this year?
