IG: The energy that plants give to a living space is amazing 🌱✨ When Jeff and I traveled for 5.5 months this past fall + winter, I transported all my plants to an amazing friends’ home so she could care for them while we were away. After moving them all out, I came back to a home that felt very different—so much less cozy and warm and comfortable. Without the plants, our home was still our home, but the energy was different. I’ve always loved indoor plants but that experience really showed me firsthand just how much good energy plants add to a living space. We chose a new home with a ton of natural light so I can fill it with plants for year-round greenery and all the best vibes. We’re still in the old home for now, but every day I enjoy the company of plants like my yucca here (right) and my dracaena (left) 😍. If you don’t have house plants, I encourage you to add some to your space to give your home the best feels!

IG: Today’s HAUL 😍 Big bundle of chocolate mint to dry for winter tea, pickling cukes, kalez, tomatoes and cucamelons. Truth be told, my cucamelons (and ground cherries🤤) pretty much never even make it into the house because they’re my gardening fuel and I snack as I go! Are you harvesting anything this week?

IG: RIPEN!!!! 😁😁😁😁 I saved these seeds 2 years ago from somewhere… I wish I remembered… but they produce some beautiful, dark purply, anti-oxidant rich tomatoes that I LOVE. And I’m trying to be patient while this beautiful cluster matures, but at the rate my tomatoes are being gobbled by squirrels, who knows if they’ll survive ☹️ Fingies crossed 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

IG: 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈 If I don’t pick them right as they’re just starting to ripen red (or whatever colour they’re destined to be at ripeness), they get munched up by squirrels and sometimes raccoons. Actually, the squirrels have been eating a lot of my unripe green ones recently even ☹️ Windowsill ripening is the best option we gots for now. At least when you make a rainbow, it’s that much more fun 🌈

IG: Saturday squash harvest! 🙏🏼 2 more spaghettis 🍝. Right now I’m averaging 1 squash per plant which means my plants aren’t the happiest 😔 but they’re also quite crammed in. So excited to have more space for my garden at the new home! What are your plans for the long weekend?

IG: 🍑🍑🍑🍑Walked by a cute fruit and veggie store that was selling baskets of fresh Ontario peaches today. Naturally, had to buy one. Then, naturally, had to make a gluten-free peach crisp. Simple, delicious and bullshit-free, this baby is made of fresh sliced peaches, Canadian maple syrup, grass-fed butter, coconut oil, ground almonds, Himalayan salt and gluten-free oats 🙌🏼 (and that’s IT) PEACH CRISP! 🍑🍑🍑🍑 How are you spending your night?

IG: The fate of the majority of my tomatoes in my Toronto backyard garden 😔 Never actually eaten, just bitten to the extent of destruction and abandoned. After 4 years growing tomatoes here, I’m unfortunately accustomed to this… I tripled my planting of tomato plants this year, in hopes that more plants = a greater chance at me being able to save a few more than usual from the munch monsters. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Thank goodness I am a religious and these will never actually be “waste”; but instead will turn into rich food for next year’s garden 🙌🏼 C’est la vie

IG: Some extreme cuteness for your Friday 😻 This is the cutest guy I know. (Jeff, you’re next, maybe if you were this soft and fluffy you’d be first 😜) HAPPY WEEKEND! ❤️ Hope you’re surviving this intense full moon. Mercury retrograde is definitely putting a stick in my spokes the last couple days… anyone else?

IG: And I thought I might not get cucumbers this year because of the cold spring and then the groundhog catastrophe! 💁🏻‍♀️ Zucchini, on the other hand, not so happy for me this year. Ya win some, ya lose some 🤷🏻‍♀️ Jeff’s been itchin’ for my homemade pickles so looks like the universe listened 😁
