IG: This one’s for you: breakdowns are ok. 🤚🏼 This is me in my moment of breakdown today. RAW AF. Here’s the story: Our house was officially listed for sale today and I was trucking along, packing, cleaning, organizing, sorting and purging when I heard a knock on the door. I answered it and it was a real estate agent who stepped inside. She introduced herself and let me know she was here to run the agent openhouse that was happening in TEN MINUTES ➡️ that I wasn’t informed about. Meanwhile, I’m in my pajamas, hair like this, and personal items and boxes EVERYWHEREEE as I was deep into the packing process. Also, an injured mouse in a large Tupperware container on the counter and a tube of my frozen urine sample in the freezer for functional medicine re-testing that I was waiting on Fedex to come pick up. Turns out, not sure what happened, but everyone else BUT me was informed of the open house today. So together and in 10 uber-stressful minutes, we did what we could to tidy the place up (and disorganize all my piles etc.) and make it somewhat acceptable for the strangers I was not expecting today. I then quickly got dressed in real clothes and exited as agents pulled up. Flooded with mega fight or flight stress chemicals, a couple minutes later, I pulled to the side of the road in my car and broke down into tears. Feeling so unprepared, caught off-guard and invaded + the stress of having to disorganize my ‘organized chaos’ just for other people was intense. Sooo what is the moral of this story? 1. You have breakdowns and so do I and it’s ok. Though I’d like it to be, not everyday is hummingbirds and flowers. Some days are hard. 2. It’s ok to let it out. I’m bad at this so it usually cumulates into larger breakdowns like this and I fight them hard. But our mind/spirit/body needs a release here and there. 3. When things feel overwhelming, talk to people you love & trust. I shared this shitty story with 3 close people and felt so much calmer after. 4. Breathe— even when stress peaks and things feel like the end of the world, they’re not and it’s very likely going to be OK. Promise. 🤚🏼 (story continued in comments)
