IG: Had a great few days this week with this guy in Ohio ⬆️ (Richard, aka stepdad, aka adoptive dad, aka I’ve been blessed with two dads!) Amending and planting my mom’s 10+ raised beds, a ‘tradition’ now since my mom’s passing late last winter. I even set him up with a beautiful tumbling composter (since composting was a longtime passion of my allstar gardener mom, and we must honor that). Looking forward to how those garden beds will thrive this year. I’ll post updates along the way! ✨

IG: Butterhead and romaine babies coming along nicely! 🌱 Planted SO many veggies over the past few days. It’s been the regular battle with the squirrels… every morning I have to replant at least one thing that’s been dug up but it is what it isssss 🤷🏻‍♀️. These lettuces, spinach, pak choy, beets and carrots are in my one big caged raised-bed so all I have to worry about here are bugs at least! How’s your garden coming along? ✨

IG: ✨IT’S OFFICIAL✨ You’re looking at a future Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC), class of 2019 baaaaaby! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Holistic Nutrition + Functional Medicine just go so well together. 🌱 I begin Sept. 1st and I couldn’t be more excited to integrate Functional Medicine into my career to share it with others and be part of a movement that’s transforming healthcare. 🙌🏼 As someone who has personally experienced profound healing through the integration of functional medicine into my own life (as so many people do, I had stealth health issues causing chronic illness that only functional lab testing could identify), I am SO, SO excited to be the one to coach and guide others as they embark on their own healing journeys towards restoring health and vitality. 👊🏼 This is truly what I’m designed for. ✨ What are your thoughts on functional/integrative Medicine?

IG: Flashback to one of last year’s backyard organic spinach hauls 🌱 For those of you new to the gardening game, spinach is a cool weather crop that does best in cooler spring and fall temps and basically hates hot summer. Once the temps increase it’s best to pull the plants (then compost them PLEASE) and replace them with something else, because they basically become inedible. Don’t worry though, you can re-seed spinach again in the fall for another harvest! ✨ Is it just me, or are things growing extra slow this year?! Gardening 100% from seed is certainly a practice in patience. Sure, I could buy veg that has already been started but where’s the fun in that? 😏

IG: ✨FERMENTS✨ Where do I even start? If you aren’t getting fermented food into your diet somewhere, you’re missing out on a perfect (easy + delicious) source of gut-healing, super-health-promoting nutrients. There’s a reason most of the unique diets of ancient cultures included a staple ferment. Fermented food is just hella good for you and our ancestors knew this. It also tastes great so for me it’s a win-win. My fave? Organic sauerkraut and kimchi (aka pimped-out sauerkraut). Sure, you can buy them, but you can also, easily, make them yourself. Sauerkraut in particular is SO. DAMN. SIMPLE. it kills me. Yesterday I whipped up a batch of kimchi (my first try) and sauerkraut which I have made many times before (pictured above). Wanna learn how to make your own? Visit freshandfrank.com and search “sauerkraut” under my recipe section. Happy fermenting! ✨

IG: When your rollout is halted by a butt in the face. 🤔Why do cats always want to put their butts right in your face? Speaking of butts, I finally got mine back to the gym after ummm October 2017? 8 months? 😱 The good news is that my muscle is still there, it has just been sleeping 💤😅 . Gonna slowly wake it back up with body weight and mobility and move on from there. Anyway, happy Tuesday from all the butts ✨
