This gut-loving, anti-inflammatory masterpiece starts with a base of organic chicken bone broth in which I simmered fresh kaffir lime leaves, fresh grated garlic + turmeric + ginger. Fresh lime juice would have been perfect but I didnโ€™t have any, so I added some kombucha vinegar for acidity, tamari for saltiness and a pinch of maple syrup to balance it all out. Then for creaminess I added coconut cream and coconut mana as well as some tomato paste, fresh ground pepper and a pinch of cayenne. I also added some rice noodles, cuz, yum. Itโ€™s zingy, comforting, cleansing, energizing and perfectly balanced, everything Iโ€™m hoping 2020 will be ๐Ÿ˜†. Stay safe this New Years and hereโ€™s to an amazing, healthful new decade ahead!

Some people naturally include a wide range of diverse food when choosing their meals, but for many of us, it’s easy to fall into a trap of eating the same foods daily. By eating a varied diet, you’re more likely to ensure that you consume adequate amounts of all essential nutrients. This not only reduces the risk of nutritional deficiencies, but it also provides numerous health benefits, like: ๐Ÿญ. ๐—” ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—š๐˜‚๐˜ The gut microbiome is incredibly important to your overall health, and it’s best to have a varied population. The best way to achieve this variety in the gut? Researchers determined that a decrease in food diversity at 6 and 12 months of age had an association with hay fever & asthma. Being born and raised in the city, I didnโ€™t even truly realize what I was missing. I was fortunate enough to have a backyard which I spent lots of time in, but my access to nature was nothing like what I have now. Relocating myself into an environment where Iโ€™m surrounded by EASY and convenient access to nature via parks, trails, woods, waterfalls and farmland has been a gamechanger. Science is showing us the positive effects time in nature has on our health, and Iโ€™m definitely feeling them by making this a priority in my life (even in poopy or cold weather๐Ÿ˜).
